Türkiye Visa Fees and Processing Times (2026)

There is no single Türkiye visa fee. What you pay depends on which of three routes your passport puts you on. Holders of 96 nationalities’ ordinary passports, including the US, UK, Canada, Australia, China and most of Europe, pay nothing because they can visit visa-free. Travellers who qualify for an e-Visa pay a nationality-based fee on evisa.gov.tr, which is shown before you pay and charged only if the visa is approved. Everyone else needs a sticker visa from a Turkish mission or its visa centre. That route costs more and takes weeks: in Pakistan, for example, a three-month single-entry visa is PKR 52,200 and processing takes about six weeks or more.

How much does a Türkiye visa cost in 2026?

Start by finding your route, because the fee follows from it. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs publishes a country-by-country list, and we’ve turned it into a searchable table in our guide to countries that can enter Türkiye visa-free.

Visa-free: no fee at all

If your passport is visa-exempt, you pay nothing and there is no form to fill in. You show your passport at the border and that’s it. Most visa-free nationalities get 90 days in any 180-day period. A few get shorter stays: Russia gets 60 days, and Thailand, Indonesia, Mongolia and Costa Rica get 30.

The list changes more often than most people expect. Chinese ordinary passport holders, for example, became visa-exempt for up to 90 days on 2 January 2026. Before that they needed an e-Visa. So check the current list rather than relying on what a friend paid two years ago.

e-Visa: the fee is set by your nationality

For e-Visa nationalities, the fee depends on your nationality and travel document. Since 2026 the portal asks you to register and log in, and it shows the amount before you pay. Three official rules matter more than the exact figure:

• You’re only charged if the e-Visa is approved. The portal’s FAQ states that “the e-Visa application fee is only charged to an approved e-Visa”.
• Unused e-Visas are not refunded. If your trip is cancelled, the money is gone.
• Every traveller pays separately. That includes children, even if they are listed in a parent’s passport.

The Ministry also notes that e-Visas bought online cost less than visas bought on arrival at Turkish airports. Visa on arrival exists only for a short list of nationalities. It isn’t available at all to Indian, Pakistani, Bangladeshi, Egyptian or Filipino travellers, among others.

Conditional e-Visa: same fee system, extra condition

Some nationalities can use the e-Visa only if they already hold a valid Schengen, US, UK or Irish visa or residence permit. They include India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal and the Philippines. The fee works the same way. The extra condition is about eligibility, not price. Sticker visa: set by each mission

If you don’t qualify for either of the above, you apply through a Turkish embassy, consulate or its authorised visa centre. Fees are set locally and published by the mission. Pakistan is a good example of what to expect. The Turkish Embassy in Islamabad published this fee structure on 20 February 2026:

Those amounts are paid in cash, are non-refundable, and have GST added on top. A VIP application costs an extra PKR 4,350.

How to see your exact e-Visa fee before you pay

The official portal shows the fee as part of the application, before you enter card details.

1. Go to evisa.gov.tr. If you land on a page for a company called DTV, you are still in the right place. DTV is a subsidiary of a foundation set up under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and it provides the visa system’s technical infrastructure. Use its “E-Visa Online Application” button to reach the application.
2. Choose Login / Register and create an account with your email address.
3. Select your country of travel document, the type of travel document and your travel dates. Nationality-specific conditions appear at this stage.
4. Review the summary. The fee for your nationality appears before you’re asked for card details.
5. Confirm your email when asked. You then have 24 hours to pay, or the application times out and you have to start again.

How long does a Türkiye visa take to process?

The e-Visa download link appears on the final screen and is also emailed to you. Border officers can check it on their system, but the portal advises carrying a copy on your phone or on paper in case their system is down.

If the portal says your application “cannot be processed”, don’t keep trying. That message means you need to apply for a sticker visa at the nearest Turkish embassy or consulate instead.

For sticker visas, processing is out of the visa centre’s hands. Anatolia, the authorised centre in Pakistan, says that since 2025 applications have been approved by the Ministry in Ankara, so the mission can’t promise a fixed decision date. That is why it advises against buying confirmed flights or hotels before the visa is granted.

What you can and can’t get refunded

The e-Visa rules are strict, and most wasted money comes from these situations:

• Your travel dates change. You can’t amend an e-Visa. You need a new one, and you pay again.
• You made a typo. If your e-Visa doesn’t exactly match your passport, it isn’t valid. You need a fresh application, and the portal says the mistake is your responsibility, so there is no refund.
• Your application is refused. You aren’t charged, because the fee applies only to approved e-Visas.
• You don’t travel. An unused e-Visa is not refunded.

The validity period starts on the date you enter in the application, but you can arrive on any day inside that period. Picking a start date slightly earlier than your planned arrival gives you room if a flight moves by a day.

Paying for the e-Visa: cards that work

The portal accepts Mastercard, Visa and UnionPay credit or debit cards, and nothing else. There’s no bank transfer, cash or wallet option. The card doesn’t have to be in your name, which helps if a relative is paying.

If payment fails, the portal lists three things to check:

• The card supports 3-D Secure, the one-time code or banking-app approval step.
• The card is enabled for international transactions. Indian-issued cards, for example, often have international use switched off until you enable it in your banking app.
• You’re still inside the 24-hour window after verifying your email.

If all three are fine, try again later or use a different card before contacting the e-Visa support desk.

Passport validity: the 60-day rule

Your passport has to outlast your permitted stay. Under Article 7(1)(b) of Law No. 6458, it must be valid for at least 60 days beyond the “duration of stay” of your visa, e-Visa or visa exemption.

In practice:

• 30-day e-Visa: passport valid for at least 90 days from arrival.
• 90-day visa-free stay: at least 150 days from arrival.

The Ministry separately advises six months of validity. Airlines sometimes apply the stricter figure at check-in, so six months is the safer target. Citizens of countries that can enter with a national ID card, including Germany, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Spain, Italy, Switzerland and Georgia, are exempt from the 60-day rule.

The official site vs look-alike visa sites

Search results for “Turkey e-visa” are full of private websites with names built around “turkey” and “evisa”. Some are legitimate agencies. All of them charge a service fee on top of the government fee, and some get no closer to the government system than you could yourself. The government system lives only on evisa.gov.tr, a domain ending in .gov.tr.

A quick check before you pay:

• The address bar shows evisa.gov.tr.
• Payment is by Mastercard, Visa or UnionPay only.
• The visa document comes as a download link from the portal and by email, not as a PDF sent by an agent days later.

Other rules that can save you a fee

• Cruise passengers: if you arrive by sea and visit only the port city or nearby provinces for up to 72 hours, you’re exempt from a visa. If you fly in or out for the cruise, you need one.
• Staying longer: an e-Visa can’t be extended online. To stay beyond it, apply for a residence permit at the nearest Provincial Directorate of Migration Management before your permitted stay ends.
• Overstaying: the portal warns of fines, deportation and bans on future travel.
• Work and study: the e-Visa is only for tourism and business trips. Work and student visas go through embassies and consulates.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Türkiye e-Visa fee the same for every nationality?

No. The portal sets the fee by nationality and travel document, and shows it before you pay. Some nationalities don’t pay because they are visa-exempt.

Do I pay if my e-Visa application is rejected?

No. The official FAQ says the fee is charged only for approved e-Visas.

Can I get a refund if I cancel my trip?

No. Unused e-Visas are not refundable. Neither are e-Visas that are invalid because of a data-entry mistake.

How early should I apply?

For an e-Visa, at least 48 hours before departure. That is the portal’s own advice. For a sticker visa, allow several weeks. In Pakistan, applications are accepted up to 90 days before travel, and processing usually takes about six weeks or more.
