How the net figure is calculated

This is the Ministry of Labour and Social Security’s own calculation:

Employee side Amount (TL)
Gross minimum wage 33,030.00
Social security (SGK) premium, 14% −4,624.20
Unemployment insurance premium, 1% −330.30
Total deductions −4,954.50
Net minimum wage 28,075.50

Since 2022, the minimum wage portion of earnings has been exempt from income tax and stamp duty. That’s why the net figure is exactly the gross figure minus 15%. For anyone earning more, the exemption still covers the first minimum-wage-sized slice of their salary.

What it costs an employer

Employers pay their own share on top of the gross wage. The Ministry publishes three versions, depending on the social security discount the employer qualifies for:

Employer situation Employer SGK share Unemployment insurance (2%) Total monthly cost
Manufacturing (5-point SGK discount) 16.75%: ₺5,532.53 ₺660.60 ₺39,223.13
Other sectors (2-point discount) 19.75%: ₺6,523.43 ₺660.60 ₺40,214.03
No discount 21.75%: ₺7,184.03 ₺660.60 ₺40,874.63

On top of this, the state pays employers minimum wage support of ₺1,270 per employee per month during 2026, for eligible employers. That brings the effective cost down slightly.

How 2026 compares with previous years

Year Gross (TL) Net (TL) Change in net

In recent high-inflation years, Türkiye sometimes raised the minimum wage twice a year. For 2026, the Labour Ministry and economic officials said there were no plans for a July increase, and none was made. The rate is set once a year, normally announced in December and effective from 1 January.

Who the minimum wage applies to

  • Everyone employed in Türkiye, in every sector and region. There’s a single national rate with no regional variations.
  • All ages. There’s no longer a separate, lower rate for workers under 16. Everyone receives the same rate.
  • Foreign employees working legally with a work permit. Work permit applications for some roles require salaries above the minimum wage, so check the current rules with the Ministry of Labour if you’re hiring or being hired.
  • The rate is for a full-time job of 45 hours a week. Part-time pay is calculated pro rata.
