Türkiye SIM Card Prices for Tourists (2026): Turkcell, Vodafone and Türk Telekom

A tourist SIM in Türkiye costs about ₺1,800 for a pack that covers a typical holiday. Turkcell’s official Tourist Welcome Pack is ₺1,800 for 20 GB of data, 200 minutes and 100 SMS, and you can order it online before you travel. Vodafone’s Welcome to Turkey pack includes 20 GB, 750 minutes, 250 SMS and unlimited WhatsApp, Telegram and Messenger. Türk Telekom sells Welcome packs from 10 GB to 100 GB. You need your passport; national ID cards aren’t accepted. Lines can only be bought within 90 days of your arrival. A phone bought abroad works on a Turkish SIM for 120 days. After that it has to be registered, which costs a fee of over ₺54,000 in 2026.

Last checked: 24 September 2026, against Turkcell’s and Vodafone Türkiye’s official tourist SIM pages. Türk Telekom’s site wasn’t reachable from outside Türkiye when we checked, so its prices below aren’t confirmed.

Turkcell: ₺1,800, and you can sort it out before you fly

Turkcell is the only operator of the three that publishes its tourist price on an English-language page. It’s also the only one where the whole process can be done online.

What Turkcell’s own tourist SIM FAQ says:

• Who can buy: anyone visiting Türkiye within the next 90 days, with a valid passport. National ID cards aren’t accepted.
• How to pay: online, with a debit or credit card that allows international and online payments. The charge is in lira.
• Two ways to activate:
• In the Turkcell app, as an eSIM, if you have a biometric (chipped) passport and a phone with both eSIM and NFC. You scan your passport, tap its chip, do a liveness check and approve the contract on a short video.
• At any Turkcell store within 90 days of applying, as a physical SIM or an eSIM. There’s no extra charge for picking it up.
• Where it works: only in Türkiye. Hotspot use is allowed, and Turkcell quotes speeds of up to 300 Mbps depending on the device.
• Top-ups: through the Turkcell app.
• Refunds and cancellation: call +90 532 532 0000. Refunds go back to the card you paid with, and exchange-rate movements can change the final amount. Support is in Turkish and English.

Vodafone: generous minutes, bought in store

Vodafone’s tourist page describes the Welcome to Turkey pack:
– 20 GB of domestic data
– 750 minutes and 250 SMS
– unlimited WhatsApp (including calls), Telegram and Facebook Messenger
– one week of unlimited Facebook, Instagram and X

Vodafone also offers international calling add-ons, and says its three-month package means you don’t need to top up.

The process: fill in the form on Vodafone’s site with your name, passport number and destination city. Then collect the SIM or eSIM at a Vodafone shop, including the airport shops, and buy the pack there. Vodafone doesn’t list the tourist price online, so ask for it in the shop before you pay.

Türk Telekom: several pack sizes

Türk Telekom sells tourist Welcome packs in several sizes, from 10 GB to 100 GB, with different validity periods. Its websites refused connections from outside Türkiye when we checked, so we couldn’t confirm current prices. Compare them in a store against Turkcell’s published ₺1,800.

What you need to buy a SIM

• Your passport. It’s the only ID accepted for a tourist line. Turkcell’s in-app activation needs a chipped passport.
• An unlocked phone. If your phone is locked to a carrier at home, a Turkish SIM won’t work.
• An address in Türkiye, such as your hotel. Turkcell asks for it at activation.
• A card that allows international payments if you buy online.

Timing matters. Under Turkish rules, tourist lines can only be bought within 90 days before or after you arrive. You can’t buy months ahead.

The 120-day rule for phones brought from abroad

This rule catches out long-stay visitors, not holidaymakers.

• A phone bought abroad works with a Turkish SIM for 120 days from the first time a Turkish SIM is used in it.
• After that, the network blocks it unless the phone is registered. Registration costs a state fee of over ₺54,000 in 2026, according to Turkish news coverage of the latest Presidential Decision, and the fee changes by decision.
• For a holiday of a few weeks, this doesn’t matter.
• If you’re staying for months, plan around it. You could use a roaming plan from home, use a foreign eSIM, or budget for registration.

Airport or city shop?

You can buy at Istanbul Airport. Vodafone has airport shops, and Turkcell lets you order online and activate on arrival. The main thing buying in the city gets you is time to compare offers, and a Turkcell or Vodafone store is rarely far away.
