Kazakhstan’s official visa table, updated on 21 August 2026, lets ordinary passport holders from 86 countries and territories enter without a visa. Sixty-four of them, including the US, the UK, the EU, China, the Gulf states, Japan and South Korea, get 30 days. Sixteen get 90 days, mostly former Soviet states plus Türkiye, Mongolia, Albania and a few others. India, Iran, Hong Kong and Macao get 14 days. Visa-free visitors can stay up to 30 days per entry and no more than 90 days in any 180. One change is coming: visa-free visitors will need an electronic travel authorisation (QazETA). The law took effect on 25 August 2026 in an information-only phase. It is reported to become mandatory at airports from 1 November 2026, with a fee.

The 30-day list
Europe: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Monaco, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom, Vatican City.
Americas: Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico, Nicaragua, United States.
Asia, Middle East and Pacific: Australia, Bahrain, China, Indonesia, Israel, Japan, Kuwait, Malaysia, Maldives, New Zealand, Oman, Philippines, Saudi Arabia, Seychelles, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand, United Arab Emirates, Vietnam.
Africa: Morocco.
Everyone else, 106 countries on the table, needs a visa. They include Pakistan, Bangladesh, Egypt, Nigeria and Turkmenistan.
How long you can stay: 30 per entry, 90 in 180
Two limits apply to visa-free visitors at the same time:
- Each visit: up to the number of days shown for your passport, so 30 days for most.
- In total: no more than 90 days in any 180-day period.
So you can make several 30-day trips, as long as they add up to no more than 90 days in any rolling 180-day window. India, Iran, Hong Kong and Macao have a 14-day limit per stay. Under the 2022 government decree that introduced it, total stays are capped at 42 days in 180. If you need longer, apply for a visa before you travel. New in 2026: QazETA electronic travel authorisation
Kazakhstan is adding an electronic pre-registration step for visa-free visitors, similar to the ETAs other countries have introduced.

The fee and the phased dates have been reported by Kazakh media and several foreign governments’ travel pages. As of our check, the final implementing regulation still hadn’t been published. If you travel on or after 1 November 2026, apply for the QazETA at least 72 hours before departure, and check the platform for the current fee.
Registration after arrival
For visa-free visits, your host must notify the migration authorities within three working days of your arrival. Hotels do this automatically. If you stay in a private flat or with friends, remind your host to register you electronically.
Kazakhstan and the other Turkic states
Travel within the Turkic world is easy from Kazakhstan’s side. Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Türkiye and Uzbekistan all get 90 days visa-free. Turkmenistan needs a visa. Once QazETA becomes mandatory, it will apply to these visa-free neighbours too, including travellers crossing by road from Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan.
